What are some of the great Fantasy fights I would love to see and why?
In no particular order.
1. Ali vs. Tyson to of course answer who is the greatest HW.
2. Sam Langford vs. the following boxers, because I've read and heard so much claiming him to be one of the greatest of all time yet with no title, I would like to see that answered.
A. Jack Dempsey - Ko's Sam
B. Gene Tunney - Outboxes him for the decision or TKO.
C. Ron Lyle - Not a great fighter but a big tough, hard hitting brawler, would love to see how Sam handles him and he is only a Journeyman, I take Lyle.
D. Earnie Shavers - Definitely Knocks Sam out.
E. Floyd Patterson - too fast with power, TKO over Sam.
F. Joe Frazier - close in size, but I see that Left putting Sam out.
G. Tommy Morrison - interesting fight, but Tommy too big and strong, Ko's Sam.
H. Evander Holyfield - I would take Evander.
I. David Tua - I would take Tua by KO.
J. Riddick Bowe - too big and would KO Sam.
K. Leon Spinks - another interesting matchup for Sam, Leon not a great fighter or Champ but a tough one I think for Langford, I call it even.
L. Max Baer - interesting again, in his Prime I take Max by TKO or KO.
M. Jersey Joe Walcott - they just keep getting more and more interesting, Tough guy, hit hard, could take a punch, I take him over Sam.
N. Sonny Liston - No contest he KO's SAM!
O. Mike Tyson - He wipes the floor with Sam.
P. George Foreman - too big, too strong, cleans him out like he did Frazier.
Q. Jerry Quarry - Another excellent fighter to never win a title, in another time period he could do it, I think he outpoints or could TKO Sam.
R. Lennox Lewis - another no contest, too big & strong, KO's Sam.
S. Rocky Marciano - NO CONTEST! SAM IS KNOCKED THE F OUT!
T. Ray Mercer - very interesting, maybe Sam's only shot to win out of all of these.
U. Joe Louis - NO CONTESt! KO's SAM!
V. Ken Norton - interesting again - another shot for Sam to win, but I say even.
W. The Klitschko Brothers - Both KO Sam, too big and strong!
X. Jack Johnson - Beat Sam but he was past his Prime would not fight him again, but I still take Jack in their Prime.
Z. Cleveland Williams - Interesting for sure, I say with his Power & Size he put Sam to sleep.
So who in the HW division could Sam beat to even be considered in the 20 or 25, hardly anyone.
Aaron Pryor also vs. several fighters as I mentioned in another Thread.
A. Roberto Duran - Duran by KO> he has it all.
B. Sugar Ray Leonard - SRL by either KO or TKO has it all.
C. Wilfred Benitez - Interesting one, super defense with power and speed, I think he can hold off Pryor for a decision.
D. Antonio Cervantes - Pryor beat an old and at the end of his career Cervantes past his prime yet he still put Pryor down in his Prime he keeps him down.
E. Julio Cesar Chavez - too tough for Pryor he takes everything as he did against Taylor and the body attack finishes him as he slows and gets in a head shot, DOWN GOES PRYOR!
F. Meldrick Taylor - very interesting, a very tough Philadelphia fighter that showed it against Chavez, faster and quicker than Pryor and takes a much better punch, Wins vis TKO over Pryor!
G. Kostya TSU - All he has to do is hit Aaron once and it ends, KO for Tsu.
H. Saoul Mamby - Not many realize it, but he was the other JWW Champ during much of Pryor's time as the other half of the JWW title holder, but they never fought, WHY? another fighter Aaron's people avoided, not due to his power he did not have any, but at that time he was at his very best of his career and was an excellent boxer and defensive fighter, he gives Pryor and excellent fight but eventually does not have enough to win.
I. Alex Arguello - at LW and without the Lewis mixed cocktail. Arguello by KO!
J. Howard Davis Jr. - at LW before Aaron moved up to JWW he beat Pryor twice in the Amateurs but I don't think he can beat him in the Pros for a 3rd win over him.
K. Sean O'Grady - at LW, this is a tough one for Pryor, O'Grady was a good boxer and had power and was a tough fight for anyone, it would be a war, I call this one Even.
L. Hilmer Kenty - at LW Excellent boxer with little power, Pryor swarms him every round and Ko's him early and would have won the LW Title against him.
After all of these or half of them would prove Pryor was as good as some claim because he actually could have fought most of these guys, I did not include any older greats because I don't think Pryor could beat most of these guys.
Sonny Liston vs. Rocky Maricano - WOW what a fight that should have and could have happened he just retired too early. Even either could KO the other one and win.
Jack Dempsey vs. Harry Wills - Wills was the #1 Contender while he was Champ but by then it was difficult to get a Black vs. White to fight for the Title, Wills excellent Boxer with some power and big guy, but Jack would be too much for him.
Joe Gans vs. Roberto Duran - this one decides the Greatest LW of all time possibly, Even, either could win, slight edge to Duran as he could box had superb defense which was often overlooked and he did beat SRL and had the Power.
Marvin Hagler vs. Carlos Monzon - this one decides the MW Title of all time I think. Monzon by decision a very tough close one.
Sonny Liston vs. Joe Frazier - this could have and would have happened in 1970 or 71 as Liston was making a comeback at an older age, he was like 9 - 0 or 10 - 0 and would have received a title shot from Frazier but he was killed I saw he still had enough to win, Frazier had trouble with the awesome power guys except Foreman he avoided them like the plague.
These are a few of what i would like to have seen but the list is much longer, these are at the top so as to clear some things up for me and history,
In no particular order.
